The single most important thing is using the viscosity and API grade your manufacturer specifies — a 5W-30 API SP engine will not be protected by whatever happens to be on the shelf. In Qatar, heat is the real enemy: high ambient temperatures thin the oil and shorten its life, so a fully synthetic oil with strong oxidation stability matters far more here than in Europe. Our Kixx and National Lube gasoline oils are built for this climate and hold their film strength when your engine is sitting in traffic at 45 °C. Shorten your oil-change interval in summer and check the level regularly.
Diesel engines work harder, run hotter and produce far more soot than petrol engines, so the oil has to carry that soot without thickening. Always match the API service category (CI-4, CH-4, CK-4) and the viscosity your engine or fleet manual requires — using an old-specification oil in a modern engine is a costly mistake. For Qatar's construction sites and long desert routes, dust and heat accelerate wear, so we supply high-TBN, high-detergency diesel oils that protect through long, hot working days. Change the oil filter with every oil change.
Gear oils are chosen by API GL rating, not just viscosity. GL-5 and GL-4 are not interchangeable — GL-5 contains high levels of EP additives that can attack the yellow metals (brass and bronze) in some manual gearboxes and synchronisers. Check the manual before you buy. Gearboxes and differentials run very hot in Qatar's summer traffic, which is why our gear oils carry strong extreme-pressure and thermal-stability packages. Signs you need a change: noisy gears, hard shifting, or a burnt smell from the oil.
For hydraulics, cleanliness and the correct ISO viscosity grade (VG 32, 46, 68) decide the life of your pumps and valves. The vast majority of hydraulic failures come from contaminated or wrong-viscosity oil, not from worn parts. In Qatar's heat, a too-thin oil loses its film and lets metal touch metal, so heavy equipment here normally runs VG 68 rather than lighter grades. Our anti-wear hydraulic oils resist oxidation and foaming under continuous high-temperature operation. Keep drums sealed, store them out of the sun, and never mix brands or grades.
Coolant is not “just water”. Plain water boils away, causes rust and corrodes the aluminium in modern engines. Important points: use the correct type for your vehicle, never mix different coolant colours or technologies, and always fill with a proper 50:50 mixture, not neat water. In Qatar, the job of coolant is boiling protection, not freezing — the right mixture raises the boiling point and carries heat away from the engine at extreme ambient temperatures. Our Kixx coolants are formulated exactly for this. Check the level when the engine is cold, and change the coolant at the intervals in your manual.
Never use car engine oil in a motorcycle with a wet clutch. Motorcycle engines share the oil between the engine, gearbox and clutch, so the oil must carry a JASO MA / MA2 rating. Car oils contain friction modifiers that make a wet clutch slip. Also check the API grade and viscosity for your bike. Motorcycle engines run hotter and at higher revs than car engines, which in Qatar's climate means even more thermal stress, so our 4T motorcycle oils are built for shear and heat resistance. Because oil volumes are small, change them more often.
Grease is selected by NLGI consistency (No. 2 and No. 3 are the common ones), by its thickener type and by its dropping point. The mistake to avoid is mixing incompatible greases — a lithium and a calcium-based grease mixed in the same bearing can turn soft and run out. Also avoid over-greasing, which damages seals. In Qatar's heat, a low dropping point means grease melts and leaves the bearing unprotected, so our multipurpose greases are chosen for high dropping points and good water resistance. They suit wheel bearings, chassis points, and industrial machinery alike.
